Yellow tungstic acid is the most common kind of tungstic acid, yellow tungstic acid is a light orange-yellow powder, and its composition varies slightly with different preparation conditions. Yellow tungstic acid is a chemical molecule with a melting point of 1473°C and a density of 5.5g/cm3. It is a bright light yellow crystal or powder. Yellow tungstic acid is orange-yellow crystal, insoluble in water, sulfuric acid and nitric acid, only slightly soluble in hydrochloric acid. When yellow tungstic acid is WO3·H2O, the density is 5.5g/cm3, and it will be dehydrated at 100°C; it is insoluble in water, and it will be dehydrated at 500°C to generate tungsten trioxide. White tungstic acid is a light yellow white powder with a specific gravity of 4.613. It is soluble in water. Its aqueous solution is acidic and unstable, and it is easy to become yellow tungstic acid and colloid.
Metatungstic acid is a kind of polytungstic acid, which is the only compound whose structure has been determined among various tungstic acids. It is a colorless crystal, easily soluble in water, and stable at 150 degrees Celsius.
