The general formula of tungstate is xR2OxyWO3xnH2O, where R: alkali metal ion or ammonium ion. There are three forms of tungstate, namely orthotungstate, paratungstate and metatungstate. Orthotungstate x:y=1:1, paratungstate x:y=5:12 ammonium paratungstate is called APT, metatungstate x:y=1:4 ammonium metatungstate is called AMT.
