Tungstate is an anionic salt containing tungstate or polytungstate. Ammonium ions, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals and many heavy metal cations can form tungstates. As fine chemicals, sodium tungstate and ammonium tungstate are the most widely used. Tungstate is generally prepared from tungstic acid; the preparation of tungstate is to dissolve tungsten trioxide in alkali metal hydroxide or carbonate solution.
