Tungsten bronze (tungsten bronze) is an anisotropic compound containing tungsten, which looks like copper and is chemically inert. Tungsten bronze is usually cubic or tetragonal. It is insoluble in water and in all acids except hydrofluoric acid, but soluble in alkaline reagents. Its chemical formula can be written as MxWO3 (x =0~1), among which, the common one is tungsten bronze in which M is the first and second main group elements and rare earth elements. The variety of M and the change of x value can make it have the properties of conductor or semiconductor. It can be used in electrochromic devices and photochromic devices. It can be used as a catalyst for the oxidation of carbon monoxide and as a degasser in fuel cells.
