Tungsten oxide is a crystalline powder formed by the combination of two elements, tungsten and oxygen. It shows different colors according to the oxygen content and production process parameters. The color of blue tungsten is affected by light. If you put a small amount of WO2.9 in the sunlight, it will turn light blue; if you put WO2.9 in a dark room, it will gradually turn back to its original color.
WO2.72 has a very different structure from other tungsten oxides. Its crystal grains are needle-shaped or rod-shaped, and the surface of the particles has the characteristics of abundant cracks, large voids, and low bulk density.
WO2 is an unstable compound and an intermediate product. It is easily oxidized to WO3 under oxidizing conditions, and easily reduced to metal W under reducing conditions.
Generally speaking, tungsten oxide is a product produced from ammonium paratungstate (APT) in a calcined and reduced environment. The color of tungsten oxide will change according to the different oxygen content, calcination time, reduction time, reducing gas concentration and other factors.
