What Is TZM High Temperature Molybdenum Alloy?

TZM is a high-temperature molybdenum alloy that contains small but significant amounts of titanium, zirconium, and carbon. The acronym TZM stands for the first letter of each of these three elements. The addition of these elements to molybdenum improves its high-temperature strength, creep resistance, and recrystallization temperature. TZM is typically used in applications that require high-temperature strength and resistance to thermal shock, such as in furnace components, aerospace and defense applications, and the semiconductor industry. It has a high melting point, excellent corrosion resistance, and good electrical and thermal conductivity.
