Tungsten dichloride dioxide (WO2Cl2) can be formed by the reaction of tungsten hexachloride (WCl6) and tungsten oxychloride (WOCl4) or tungsten trioxide (WO3).
Tungsten dichloride (WO2Cl2) can also be formed by the reaction of carbon tetrachloride and tungsten dioxide (WO2) at 250°C.
