Tungsten sulfide is also called tungsten disulfide. Chemical formula WS2. Molecular weight 247.98. It appears as tungstenite in nature, which is a dark gray orthorhombic crystalline solid. The relative density is 7.5g. Insoluble in water, soluble in mixed acid of HNO3 and HF and molten alkali, insoluble in water and ethanol. It decomposes when heated to 1200°C.
