Using sodium tungstate solution as raw material, ammonium metatungstate solution is prepared by solvent extraction or ion exchange method, the solvent extraction and ion exchange process is basically the same as that of ammonium paratungstate. The difference is that in the back extraction (or desorption) operation, the concentration and dosage of the back extraction agent (or desorption agent) are different. When the pH of the solution is kept at 3 to 4, the back extraction (or desorption) obtains partial tungsten ammonium acid solution. In the general APT production process, this method can produce AMT solution without changing stripping agent (or desorbent) condition, so it is a simple and easy method.
In the solvent extraction or ion exchange method using ammonium tungstate solution as raw material, the 〔NH4〕+ ion in the ammonium tungstate solution is extracted (or adsorbed) with a cationic extractant (or cationic exchange resin), and then there is a stabilizer and a suitable AMT solution can be produced under the solution pH condition, which is a simple and economical method. The ammonium metatungstate solution obtained by solvent extraction or ion exchange method is also concentrated and crystallized or spray-dried to produce ammonium metatungstate product.
