Sodium tungstosilicate is also known as “sodium dodecatungsilicate 20 hydrate”. Chemical formula Na4Si (W3O10) 4 • 20H2O [also expressed as SiO2 • 12WO2 • xH2O]. The molecular weight of sodium silicotungstate is 3326.53. Sodium silicotungstate is a colorless triclinic crystal, easily soluble in water and ether, soluble in acid and ammonium hydroxide, slightly soluble in ethanol. Sodium silicotungstate loses 7 molecules of water at 100°C, dissolves in its own crystal water when heated, decomposes when heated, and decomposes at 600~650°C.
