Tungsten diselenide WSe2 can be obtained by reacting tungsten and stoichiometric selenium powder in a vacuum-sealed quartz tube at 600-700°C.
Heating the tungsten flake in a high-pressure and high-temperature (over 800 K) selenium vapor, using sputtering deposition technology can form hexagonal crystals with the correct element ratio on the flake:
W+2Se→WSe2
