Ultrafine zinc tungstate (ZnWO4) nanorods were prepared by a hydrothermal method in an aqueous solution containing cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of ultrafine ZnWO4 nanorods was detected by degrading methyl orange (MO) under mercury lamp irradiation. The results show that under the action of CTAB micelles, ZnWO4 nanorods are thinner and longer, and the photocatalytic activity of ultrafine ZnWO4 nanorods is stronger than that of ordinary ZnWO4 nanorods. or 50%.
