How Much Does The Rainy Season in Myanmar Affect China’s Rare Earth Imports?

According to customs data, from January to May 2023, China’s imports of unlisted rare earth oxides totaled 18,092 tons, a year-on-year increase of 568%, of which about 98% came from Myanmar.

It is worth mentioning that in May, Myanmar entered the rainy season, and the import and transportation of rare earths were blocked, so the import volume decreased from the previous month. It is expected that the import volume of rare earth from Southeast Asia will continue to decrease in June.
