According to customs data, in May 2023 China imported 3,826 tons of unlisted rare earth oxides, a year-on-year increase of 301% and a month-on-month decrease of 9%. From January to May 2023, China’s imports of unlisted rare earth oxides totaled 18,092 tons, a year-on-year increase of 568%.
It is worth mentioning that about 98% of my country’s unlisted rare earth oxides from January to May came from Myanmar. In May, Myanmar entered the rainy season, and the import and transportation of rare earths were blocked, so the import volume decreased from the previous month. It is expected that the import volume of rare earth from Southeast Asia will continue to decrease in June.
