What Are the Chemical Properties of Molybdenum Rods?

The chemical properties of molybdenum rods are mainly as follows:

Corrosion resistance: Molybdenum rods have good corrosion resistance and show good stability in many common acids, alkalis and solvents. It is resistant to strong acids (such as sulfuric, hydrochloric, and nitric acids) and strong bases (such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide).

Activity: At room temperature, molybdenum rods do not react with oxygen and most common gases. However, at high temperatures, it reacts with oxygen to form oxides.

Oxidation: In the presence of high temperature and oxygen, molybdenum rods will react with oxygen to form molybdenum oxides (such as molybdenum dioxide, MoO2 and molybdenum trioxide, MoO3).

Insolubility: Molybdenum rods are insoluble in water and most common solvents at normal temperatures.

High melting point: Molybdenum rod has a very high melting point of about 2,620 degrees Celsius (4,748 degrees Fahrenheit), making it stable in high temperature environments.
