Difference in Production Methods Between Tetrabromotungsten and Tungsten Dibromide

There are some differences in the production methods of tungsten tetrabromide (WBr4) and tungsten dibromide (WBr2):

Production method of tungsten tetrabromide (WBr4):

A common production method is to prepare tetrabromotungsten by reacting tungsten powder with bromine gas. First, tungsten powder is added to the reactor and heated to the reaction temperature. Then, bromine gas is introduced into the reactor and reacts with the tungsten powder to form tetrabromotungsten. The reaction is usually carried out at high temperatures and requires controlled reaction temperatures and gas flow rates.
Another method is to further prepare tetrabromotungsten by reacting tungsten tribromide (WBr3) with bromine gas under appropriate conditions. In this process, tungsten tribromide undergoes an oxidation reaction with bromine gas to produce tetrabromotungsten.
