Difference in Thermal Stability between Tungsten Tetrabromide and Tungsten Tribromide

There are some differences in the thermal stability of tetrabromotungsten (WBr4) and tribromotungsten (WBr3). The following is a brief description of their thermal stability:

Thermal stability of tungsten tetrabromide:
Tungsten tetrabromide is relatively stable at high temperatures. It has a high melting point and thermal decomposition temperature. At normal operating temperatures, it does not normally undergo significant thermal decomposition. However, when subjected to extreme high temperature conditions or strong oxidising agents, tetrabromotungsten tetrabromide may undergo thermal decomposition, releasing bromine gas.
