Physical and chemical properties of sodium tungstate

Colorless crystal or white orthorhombic crystal.

Colorless or white crystal. Relative density 3. 25. The melting point is 665°C. Insoluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in ammonia. Weathering in dry air. Soluble in 1.1 parts of water, slightly alkaline, pH8-9. It decomposes into water-insoluble tungstic acid when it encounters strong acid. When heated to 100°C, it loses crystal water and becomes anhydrous.

Sodium Tungstate Production Method

Alkaline hydrolysis is carried out with tungsten ore as raw material. Crush wolframite (the main component is MnW04. FeW04) to 320 mesh, add 30% sodium hydroxide to the reactor for alkaline hydrolysis, after alkaline hydrolysis, react with calcium chloride to synthesize calcium tungstate, and react calcium tungstate with hydrochloric acid Generate tungstic acid, then react with sodium hydroxide to generate sodium tungstate, evaporate and crystallize, centrifuge, dehydrate, and dry to obtain the finished product of sodium tungstate.

Uses of sodium tungstate

Sodium tungstate is an anode passivation film type corrosion inhibitor, and its corrosion inhibition performance is better than that of molybdenum and phosphorus. It has good corrosion inhibition effect on plain steel, red copper, copper alloy, aluminum and zinc. When single sodium tungstate is used as the corrosion inhibitor, the dosing amount is relatively large, about WO~- 200mg/L or more, and the cost is high.

Sodium Tungstate Safety

The United States stipulates that the maximum allowable concentration of tungsten and its soluble compounds in the air (calculated as tungsten) is 1 mg/m3, and that of insoluble compounds (calculated as tungsten) is 5 mg/ma. Staff should be well protected. This product should be stored in a cool, dry warehouse, and pay attention to moisture. Keep the packaging intact during storage and transportation. Do not store and transport together with acids. Protect from the sun and rain during transportation.
