Solubility Difference between Tungsten Tetrabromide and Tungsten Pentabromide

There is a certain difference in solubility between tungsten tetrabromide (WBr4) and tungsten pentabromide (WBr5).

Tungsten tetrabromide has limited solubility. It is soluble in many organic solvents such as chloroform, dimethylsulfoxide and dimethylformamide. However, in some common organic solvents, such as ethanol and ether solvents, the solubility of tungsten tetrabromide is relatively low. In addition, tungsten tetrabromide is almost insoluble in water.

Tungsten pentabromide has poor solubility. It is difficult to dissolve in common organic solvents, including chloroform, ethanol, ether solvents, etc. Tungsten pentabromide is also insoluble in water.
