Tungsten tetrabromide (WBr4) and tungsten tetrachloride (WCl4) are inorganic compounds with specific chemical structures, which are composed of tungsten atoms and halogen atoms in a certain proportion. However, there are significant differences in their thermal stability.

In contrast, the molecular structure of tungsten tetrachloride (WCl4) is similar to that of tungsten tetrabromide, in that tungsten atoms are covalently bonded to four chlorine atoms to form a tetrahedral structure. However, the thermal stability of tungsten tetrachloride is relatively high. This is mainly due to the small atomic radius and low electronegativity of chlorine atoms, which makes the bonded ionicity of tungsten tetrachloride relatively weak, so it is not easy to bond transfer or decompose under the action of heat. In addition, the relatively high vapor pressure of tungsten tetrachloride also makes it more stable at high temperatures.
In practical applications, the difference in thermal stability between tungsten tetrabromide and tungsten tetrachloride may affect their reactivity and application range in certain chemical reactions.
