What Are the Lighting Applications of Tungsten Wire?

Tungsten wire once played an important role in lighting applications, especially in traditional incandescent light bulbs. Here are some of the main applications in lighting:

Incandescent light bulbs: The most well-known application is the traditional incandescent light bulb. In an incandescent light bulb, current passing through a tungsten wire heats it, causing it to emit visible light. This application was once very common in the lighting field, but has now been replaced by energy-saving lighting technologies such as LED and fluorescent lamps.

Halogen lamp: Halogen lamp is a light source with high brightness and high color temperature. Some of these halogen lamps use tungsten as their filament, which allows them to emit bright light when heated to extremely high temperatures.

Projectors: In projectors, a small, high-brightness bulb usually uses tungsten wire as the light source. These projectors are used to display images or videos on a screen.

Stage Lighting: In stage and performing arts, some lighting fixtures use tungsten light bulbs to produce intense light to illuminate the stage or actors.
