What Is Hardness of High-Density Tungsten Alloy?

High-density tungsten alloy has extremely high hardness. Its hardness usually exceeds 90 HRC on the HRC (Rockwell Hardness) scale. This makes it a very hard material with excellent wear and scratch resistance. The high hardness of high-density tungsten alloys makes it valuable in applications such as the manufacture of cutting tools, drill bits, warheads and armor materials.

The hardness of high-density tungsten alloy is related to its density and alloy composition. Its hardness is very close to that of pure tungsten, but is slightly reduced due to the addition of some other alloying elements to improve processability and corrosion resistance. However, even with some reduction in hardness, high-density tungsten alloys are still extremely hard and suitable for many applications requiring wear and chip resistance.
