The process of making high-purity tungsten wires involves several key steps. The following is a detailed manufacturing process:
- Raw material preparation
Selection of high-purity raw materials: The first step in making high-purity tungsten wires is to select high-purity tungsten raw materials. This usually includes high-purity tungsten powder or tungsten compounds, such as tungsten oxide, etc.
- Powder preparation and processing
Powder screening and mixing: The selected tungsten raw materials are screened to ensure that the powder has a uniform particle size. This is followed by mixing to ensure the uniform distribution of tungsten powder in subsequent steps.
Pressing and drying: The mixed tungsten powder is placed in a mold for pressing to form a tungsten blank with a certain shape and density. After that, it is dried to remove moisture and volatile impurities in the tungsten blank.
- Sintering and densification
Pre-sintering: The dried tungsten blank is placed in a hydrogen sintering furnace for pre-sintering. At high temperatures, the tungsten particles begin to condense and form a preliminary dense structure.
Complete sintering: The pre-sintered tungsten blank is placed in a special water cooling treatment device and heated by electricity to a higher temperature to achieve complete sintering. In this step, the density of the tungsten blank will be further improved to about 85% to 95%.
- Extrusion forging processing
Heating and hammer forging: The sintered tungsten rod is heated to 1200℃ to 1500℃ to make it more tough. Then, the tungsten rod is squeezed and hammered by a hammer forging machine to reduce its diameter and improve its crystal structure.
Drawing: After extrusion and forging, the tungsten rod has a certain strength and toughness. At this time, it can be drawn through a wire drawing die to make its diameter thinner, and finally obtain a high-purity tungsten wire of the required diameter.
- Subsequent processing and testing
Surface treatment: According to needs, the surface treatment of the drawn tungsten wire, such as coating treatment, is carried out to improve its oxidation resistance and service life.
Quality inspection: The quality inspection of the manufactured high-purity tungsten wire, including purity inspection, diameter inspection, tensile strength inspection, etc., is carried out to ensure that it meets the relevant standards and requirements.
