Chemically, it resists dilute acids and alkalis at room temperature but forms MoO₃ in oxidizing environments above 600°C, needing vacuum or inert gas protection. Cold-rolled foil has a smooth surface, slightly enhancing corrosion resistance, with purity typically ≥99.9%. Applications include semiconductors (substrates, targets), high-temperature furnaces (high-strength components), and aerospace (precision parts), leveraging high strength for thin-film processing. Advantages include superior strength and surface quality; disadvantages are reduced toughness and higher processing difficulty. Cold rolling requires precise deformation control to prevent microcracks. Quality is verified using microscopic analysis or hardness testing to ensure consistent performance.
