What Is a Forged Molybdenum Crucible?

Forged molybdenum crucible refers to a molybdenum metal crucible made by forging process, which is mainly used for melting metals, rare elements or chemical reactions under high temperature conditions. It uses molybdenum (Mo) as the main material, has excellent high temperature performance and chemical stability, and is widely used in metallurgy, rare earth, glass, solar energy, electronics and aerospace.

  1. Definition and manufacturing process of forged molybdenum crucible

Forged molybdenum crucible is a high temperature resistant container made by repeatedly forging and extruding molybdenum rods or molybdenum billets at high temperatures, and then through turning, welding, heat treatment and other processes. Compared with the powder metallurgy forming method, the forging process can improve the density and strength of the crucible.

The manufacturing process mainly includes:

Molybdenum ingot preparation: high purity molybdenum powder is used as raw material to sinter into molybdenum ingot;

Hot forging: The molybdenum ingot is forged into a rough shape at high temperature;

Rough machining and heat treatment: remove the oxide layer and improve the density of the organization;

Finishing: Made into specified dimensions by machining (turning, drilling, etc.);

Inspection and cleaning: including non-destructive testing and surface cleaning to ensure quality.
