Arc initiation performance, simply put, refers to the ability of the welding electrode to ignite the arc quickly and stably when welding begins.
Specifically, arcing performance reflects whether the electrode can quickly generate arc and maintain its stable combustion characteristics after applying voltage to the welding equipment. Good arcing performance means that the electrode is easy to “ignite”, and the welder can quickly start the welding process, reducing waiting time and difficulty in operation.
In argon arc welding, arcing performance is particularly important because a stable arc is the basis for ensuring weld quality. Different types of tungsten electrodes have different arcing properties due to different material composition and surface properties. For example, thorium tungsten electrodes and cerium tungsten electrodes usually have good arc initiation performance, while pure tungsten electrodes have relatively poor arc initiation performance.
