TIG AC
Pure tungsten electrodes are particularly suitable for AC welding and are mainly used for welding light metal materials such as aluminum alloys and magnesium alloys. The AC current naturally spheroidizes the electrode head, forming a stable arc that helps to avoid electrode burnout and weld contamination.
Thin-walled material welding
Because the arc of pure tungsten electrode is relatively stable in AC welding, it is suitable for welding thin-walled materials and can reduce overheating and deformation.
Occasions with high environmental protection requirements
Pure tungsten electrodes do not contain radioactive elements (such as thorium), which is safer and more environmentally friendly, and is suitable for working environments with high requirements for radiation safety.
Low current and low power welding
For some low-current or low-power AC welds, pure tungsten electrodes perform well and can guarantee stable arcing and welding quality.
It should be noted that the arc initiation performance and arc stability of pure tungsten electrodes are not as good as those of alloy tungsten electrodes containing rare earths or thorium, so pure tungsten electrodes are usually not the first choice in high-current DC welding or DC welding with extremely high welding quality requirements.
