Cerium-tungsten electrode (gray marking) is a non-radioactive alloy tungsten electrode doped with cerium oxide (CeO₂) in a tungsten matrix, which is widely used in precision welding processes such as direct current argon arc welding (DC TIG).
Compared with traditional thorium tungsten electrodes, cerium tungsten electrodes do not contain radioactive components, have higher safety, and have good arc initiation performance and arc stability. Its typical composition is 98% tungsten + 1.8%~2.2% cerium oxide, and the surface is generally painted with gray markings for easy identification.
