The main arcing methods of TIG welding are as follows:
High Frequency Arc Initiation (hf Arc Initiation)
Arcing is generated by high-frequency, high-voltage pulses without the need for electrodes to touch the workpiece. The advantage is that arcing starts quickly and stably, suitable for precision welding and automated welding. But the equipment is complex and sensitive to environmental interference.
Scratch Start
The electrode is in direct contact with the workpiece and then quickly pulled apart to form an arc. It is simple to operate and has low equipment cost, but it may cause electrode adhesion and weld contamination, and the surface of the weldment is easily damaged when arcing.
Lift Start
After the electrode touches the workpiece, gently lift the electrode, and the power supply automatically boosts to form an arc. Compared with contact arcing, the damage to the surface of the workpiece is reduced, and the arcing is more stable, suitable for manual welding.
Touch Start
It is similar to contact arcing, but the electrode is briefly contacted with the workpiece through small vibrations, and an electric arc is formed after sparks. There are fewer applications.
