What Is a Tig Welding Needle?

The TIG welding needle is a special type of tungsten electrode used in the TIG welding process. The electrode sometimes needs to be sharpened during the welding process. The sharpened tungsten needle for argon arc welding is a slender tungsten product made of pure tungsten or tungsten alloy. It has the advantages of high temperature resistance, high hardness and good conductivity. It can be used as an electrode material in argon arc welding technology.

The tip angle of the ground tungsten needle will change with the application type, welding current and electrode diameter. For example, pure tungsten needle electrode has a higher melting point, strong electron emission capability, high elastic modulus, and ablation resistance, and can be used for tungsten in arc welding, it plays an important role in arc starting, arc stability and welding quality.

In argon arc welding, tungsten electrodes are usually used as welding electrodes, and one end of the tungsten electrode needs to be sharpened to produce a sharp welding arc. This helps improve welding accuracy and control the welding process. As welding, the electrodes gradually wear out and will need to be sharpened or replaced periodically.

A TIG welding tungsten needle is a specially designed tungsten electrode that may have been sharpened during manufacture to allow the welder to achieve the desired arc shape during the welding process. This may be a custom design used in some special welding applications.
