What Is Ytterbium Doped Potassium Tungstate?

Ytterbium doped potassium tungstate (Yb:kGD(WO4)2) and ytterbium doped potassium tungstate (Yb:KY(WO4)2) single crystals are laser crystals used in diode or laser pumped solid state laser applications. Mainly used in Yb:KGW and Yb:KYW thin crystals (100-150 µm) as laser materials to generate ultrashort pulses (22W). Standard pumping 981nm, output: 10231060 nm Yb: KGW and Yb: KYW crystals can be used as ultrashort pulse amplifiers Yb:KGW and Yb:KYW are one of the best materials for high-power thin disk lasers. Yb-doped potassium tungstate crystal features: high absorption coefficient at 981nm, high stimulated emission cross section, low laser threshold, extremely low quantum defect, λ pump/λse wide polarization output, high slope efficiency at 10231060nm, diode pumping (~60%), high Yb doping concentration.
