How to Save Tungsten Barium Electrodes?

The reserve type barium tungsten cathode is composed of a porous matrix and uniformly filled barium salts. The BaO component in the barium salts is easy to absorb water and other impurities.

To ensure the effectiveness of barium tungsten cathode products, it is required that they should not be exposed to the atmosphere for more than 48 hours before use, and to prevent water vapor, dust, and other pollutants from coming into contact with the product to the greatest extent possible. To ensure optimal performance, it is best to store the electrode at ≤ 0.1Pa or in a dry inert gas (dry nitrogen or argon). When the electrode absorbs too much moisture, spots may appear on the surface of the product during the heating process before subsequent use. This situation can be reduced or prevented by reducing the heating speed.

All electrode operations should be carried out in a very clean and dry environment. Oil or other contamination on the fingers can affect the activation of the electrodes and the performance of the final lamp.

The usage temperature of barium tungsten cathode is relatively wide. When used under high temperature conditions, the emission current of the electrode is large, but the lifespan is short. When used under lower temperature conditions, the emission current is small, but the lifespan is longer. For specific usage and protection of tungsten barium electrodes, it is recommended to consult with relevant experts from professional electrode manufacturers such as CTIA GROUP LTD to ensure reasonable and effective use and protection.
