How To Evaluate the Conductivity of Tungsten Electrodes?

The conductivity of tungsten electrodes is evaluated from the following aspects:

Material Composition And Purity

The conductivity of tungsten electrodes is closely related to the purity of tungsten. The higher the purity, the fewer impurities, the lower the resistivity, and the better the conductivity. The composition and purity of the electrode material are typically detected through chemical or spectroscopic analysis.

Resistivity Test

The resistivity of the tungsten electrode is directly measured by the four-probe method or resistance measuring instrument. Low resistivity means good conductivity. During testing, it is necessary to ensure that the electrode sample is free of oxide layer and contamination.

Microscopic Tissue Observation

The grain structure and defects of the electrode are observed using a microscope. The grains are fine and uniform without obvious impurities, and the conductivity is usually better.

Physical Performance Testing

Combined with the physical properties of the tungsten electrode, such as hardness and density, it indirectly reflects the density and purity of the material and affects the conductivity.

Welding Performance Verification

Through the actual welding test, the arc initiation performance and arc stability of the electrode are observed, and the conductive performance is indirectly judged. Electrodes with good conductivity usually arc quickly and stably.

Standard Comparison

Refer to the technical index requirements of relevant national or industry standards (such as AWS, GB, etc.) for the conductive performance of tungsten electrodes to conduct compliance testing.
