What Is Thermal Decomposition of Sodium Paratungstate?

Sodium paratungstate Na10(H2W12O42)•27H2O was prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectrum and chemical analysis. The study of thermal analysis shows that the thermal decomposition process of the compound includes six steps. The first four steps are dehydration steps, the temperature is about 331, 353, 403 and 588K respectively, and the water loss numbers are 10H2O, 9H2O, 5H2O and 4H2O respectively; the fifth step may be the phase transition of the intermediate product, the temperature is about 691K, The sixth step generates a mixture of Na2W2O7 and Na2W4O13 at a temperature of about 733K. After the product of each step in the first five steps is equilibrated in the gas phase of the saturated solution of the title compound, the sodium paratungstate compound can be obtained again.
