Effect of pH Value on Solubility of Tungsten Tetrabromide

The solubility of tungsten tetrabromide is affected by the pH value of the solution. The pH value indicates the degree of acidity or alkalinity in a solution and has an important effect on solubility.

Under acidic conditions, the solubility of tungsten tetrabromide is usually higher. This is because the acidic environment can promote the reaction between tungsten tetrabromide molecules and water molecules, causing them to dissociate into tungstate ions (WO4-). This dissociation reaction increases the solubility of tungsten tetrabromide in solution.

In contrast, under alkaline conditions, the solubility of tungsten tetrabromide is generally low. Hydroxide ions (OH-) in an alkaline environment react with tungsten tetrabromide molecules to form precipitates, resulting in a decrease in its solubility.
