The specific gravity is 3.987 (14°C).
Soluble in cold water and decompose in hot water. It loses water when heated to 100°C. In the solution, it roughly corresponds to the 12 aggregation state, that is, [H2W12O42]10-. Continue to add acid and polymerize to obtain iso-metatungstate ion and metatungstate. It is prepared by adding hydrochloric acid or nitric acid dropwise to the sodium tungstate solution under the condition of strong stirring and heating until the pH value reaches 5-6.
