Difference in Redox Properties between Tetrabromotungsten and Tungsten Dibromide

Tungsten tetrabromide (WBr4) and tungsten dibromide (WBr2) have some differences in their redox properties:

Tungsten tetrabromide (WBr4): The tungsten atom in tetrabromotungsten presents the oxidation state of +4, which means that it has a high oxidizing property. It can act as an oxidizing agent and participate in redox reactions under appropriate conditions, reducing other substances and being reduced itself.

Tungsten dibromide (WBr2): The tungsten atom in tungsten dibromide exhibits a +2 oxidation state, which is less oxidizing than tetrabromotungsten. Under some conditions, it can participate in redox reactions as a reducing agent, oxidizing other substances and being oxidized itself.
