Tungsten is generally resistant to acid solutions, including hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid, especially at room temperature. However, tungsten can react with hot and concentrated alkalis, such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide, to form tungstates. Therefore, tungsten needles may not be suitable for use in highly alkaline solutions.
