Ammonium Metatungstate Production Process Sodium Tungstate Method

One of the production processes of ammonium metatungstate (AMT) is sodium tungstate method (sodium tungstate method). The following are the basic steps of the sodium tungstate method:

Sodium tungstate dissolution: Dissolve sodium tungstate (Na2WO4) in an appropriate amount of hot water to form a sodium tungstate solution.

Acidification reaction: add acid (such as nitric acid) to the sodium tungstate solution to carry out acidification reaction. This step will result in the formation of tungstic acid.

Precipitation and Filtration: After acidification, tungstic acid will appear in the form of precipitation. Separate the tungstic acid precipitate from the solution by filtration or centrifugation.

Washing and drying: The tungstic acid precipitate is washed to remove impurities and unreacted substances. Then the washed tungstic acid precipitate is dried to remove water.

Reduction reaction: Heating the dried tungstic acid precipitate to high temperature and reacting with reducing agent (such as hydrogen) to carry out reduction reaction. This will result in the reduction of tungstic acid to form ammonium metatungstate.

Crystallization and drying: The formed ammonium metatungstate solution is crystallized and dried to convert it into solid ammonium metatungstate.

Crushing and Refining: The solid ammonium metatungstate is pulverized and refined to obtain the desired purity and particle size.
