Preparation of Tungsten Disulfide
React tungstic acid with ammonia water to produce ammonium tungstate, then react with hydrogen sulfide to produce ammonium tetrathiotungstate, which is decomposed into tungsten disulfide after high-temperature roasting.
The use of tungsten disulfide
Mainly used as a lubricant, it has a low coefficient of friction, high compressive strength, and is still lubricating at 1316°C. Filling materials formulated with PTFE and nylon, etc., can be used for homemade lubricated parts.
