What Are Specifications and Characteristics of Self-Sharpening Carbide Drill Bits?

The main differences between self-sharpening and sharpening drill bits are: the contact area between the cutting tool and the bottom of the hole is constant, the cutting tool is required to be self-sharpening, mainly grinding and micro-shearing to cut rock, and the drilling speed is relatively stable. The characteristics of its drilling procedures are:

  1. Weight on bit: The contact area with the rock is large, and the total weight on bit should be 20-25% greater than that of the sharpening type;
  2. Rotation speed: Due to the rock breaking mechanism, a higher speed than the sharpening type must be used to increase the number of rock breaking times per unit time;
  3. Pump capacity: A slightly smaller pump capacity can be used than the sharpening type, but in order to fully cool down (higher speed) and avoid repeated crushing, a larger pump capacity should be used as much as possible. As the tire block wears away, the water passing section decreases and the pump volume needs to be adjusted down in time to prevent pump failure.
