Through physical vapor deposition, the coating material is deposited on the surface of the cemented carbide at the atomic or molecular level to form a coating of several microns. PVD technology can form various coating materials, such as TiC, TiN, Ti(C,N), Al2O3, etc., to improve the hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of the tool.
- Laser direct synthesis and manufacturing method: Utilize the special physical metallurgy, chemical metallurgy and rapid solidification characteristics of the molten pool formed by high-energy laser to directly react and synthesize the cemented carbide coating in the molten pool. This kind of coating is dense, has no pores and crack defects, forms a strong metallurgical bond with the base material body, and has the composition, microstructure and properties of cemented carbide. Laser-synthesized cemented carbide coating solves the problems of pores and cracks that occur in laser cladding of cemented carbide, overcomes the disadvantages of high cost and limited shape of sintered cemented carbide, and can be synthesized on the surface of various commonly used engineering metal materials and parts , widely used in carbide cutting tools, molds, various ultra-high wear-resistant surfaces and parts, etc.
The manufacturing methods of coated carbide are not independent and can be used in combination with each other. At the same time, different manufacturing methods also have different effects on the performance and quality of the coating.
